about

I loved writing this song as it gave me a chance to express some of the many joys I have experienced while developing as a long distance runner. My good friend Chris Lopez suggested I run to help cope with depression, and as a result I found out about the amazing Park Run organisation.

Park Runs are completely free 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) races held in parks all over the world at 9am on Saturday mornings. Entirely run by volunteers they provide a brilliant sense of community, bringing people together to really maximise the benefits of running.

In this track I mention running round the ends with friends I have met through running; this is all of the back of Park Runs so large up everyone involved, especially the Burgess Park gang! The song was initially purely about running but as the chorus developed it gained a bit more of a political edge. Going back to my critique of the education system successive Governments in Britain have sold off thousands of school playing fields right across the country, and then wonder why we have an obesity epidemic! Working in schools the lack of time and resources being put into physical education is a disgrace, so for me storming into parliament with a bunch of fitness freaks could maybe have some effect!

I love this track and it has a bunch of my favourite rhymes and tries to be as positive as possible. I am always on the look out for hip hop music with a message and was devastated to hear of the death of Nipsey Hustle so I had to throw a shout out to him in; RIP; his The Marathon Continues (TMC) clothing line still going strong and showcasing how important entrepreneurial spirit is to help build communities.

“Yeaaah then I'm listening to literature
Long distance finish tapes finessed up
With a scimitar”

This is a reference to a strategy I have found incredibly useful of the last couple of years; namely listening to audiobooks and podcasts while running. Through the apps SCRIBD and Audible I have now listened to hundreds of books on a huge variety of topics. The amount of enjoyment I’ve experienced from doing this has been massive, and the benefits to my professional life through being able to acquire more information than I had ever thought possible has really been remarkable, so I would highly recommend doing the same!

lyrics

Yeah yeah this one goes out to Lopez
Get at a London runner
And all my trainer heads
Hearts on sleeves and
Wearing they soles out on the daily…

Lace it up
Learn that discipline
Run that run that…
Love that discipline

We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable shit
I'm here to bring it back
Rapping runner run my mouth
If it's an argument for parliament
We running down the house

Get a hit from the endorphins everytime I run
windchill upon the skin feel the blaze of the sun
H20 equipped sip feel the drip off the tongue
love training in my trainers and increasing the lung
capacity my faculties increases on the March
Run before the sunrise through the lunch and after dark
run the rivers like the Orwell and the Thames they're looking gorgeous
run and wrapping flawless I don't need no
Gassing Porsches
With the miles I get extortionate
Smashing authors on my route
Spreading news I need the views
From all my troops
Pavement is my office
Sewing Golden parachutes
Running shorts vests n sneaks now replacing my suits
Girls that run are cute
make moves they don't pollute
The great heavyweight
Dont skate, shake
put in the boot
Instagram famous to show ya
What the game is
You'll always make the gains
Nobody says its painless

We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable Ish!
We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable shit
I'm here to bring it back
Rapping runner run my mouth
If It's an argument for parliament
We running down the house

Jogging on the track
Load of snickers in the pack
Listening to rap my hips hop
Across the map
Bossing it with laps
stacks of PBs to attack
Or if its on a chilled one
Run with homes have a chat
I run by self, run with my friends
Run with friends I've made through
Running round the ends
Run circles round the competition
Run ellipsis
Run reformed rotund rude boys running Ipswich
Run through the ditches
Run Christmas to. Christmas
Run the Marathon till
We all sit where NIP lives
The Marathon Continues
Yelling TMC
Matching Mo Farah milage
I believe thats me!

We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable shit
I'm here to bring it back
Rapping runner run my mouth
If it's an argument for parliament
Bunning down the house

I run for my freedom.
Run for my good health
Run for me
Run for you
Run naked
Run stealth
Run mouth run gums
U Run guns
I run lungs
Let's see who's old age and grey with most funds
Run past the hum drum
I run to the drum
I run past your girl she's still waiting to come
I run for Sri Chimney
I run for peace
I run round the atlas
West to the east
Run back again
This man be a beast
Never lagging
We be smashing with a passion for
Sneaks
Reaching the heights
Eating the grind
Endorphins gon wild
I am treating my mind
To some oxygen
Listen to the Lox again
Hype until the slow pace requires some
Van Morrison
Yeaaah then I'm listening to literature
Long distance finish tapes finessed up
With a scimitarrrrrghhh...

We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable ish
I'm here to bring it back
Running Rapper run run my mouth
Ifits an argument for parliament
We running down the house
record do you know how amazing voice no dictation is now with really is something special
We used to run every day when we was kids
They sold off the playgrounds
Unbelievable ish
I'm here to bring it back
Running Rapper run my mouth
If its an argument for parliament.
We running down the house
